Lost or Stolen Card

If your card is ever lost or stolen, immediately call your financial service representative at (419) 479-4040. If your card is lost or stolen after business hours immediately call Master Card at 800-523-4175, option 3, and report the loss. Your liability under federal law for unauthorized use of your ATM or debit card depends on how quickly you report the loss. At the earliest opportunity also call the credit union so that we can close your old old debit card number and open your new one. There may be a fee associated with your new replacement card.

Debit Card

You must have a checking account to have a debit card.

You can use your debit card to make all your purchases. It’s safer than carrying cash and easier than writing checks. Purchases are deducted right from your checking account.

  • Your debit card can be used for purchases anywhere that Master Card is accepted.
  • You are able to receive cash back when you use your debit card for purchases.
  • Use your debit card to make purchases online. Your debit card information is protected by Master Card Securecode.
  • There is no annual fee.
  • REMEMBER: When you use your debit card, the money is deducted from your checking account.

WHY PRESS THE "CREDIT" KEY AT THE CHECKOUT WHEN USING YOUR DEBIT CARD?

Merchants charge a fee to your credit union when you press the debit key. By limiting expenses for the credit union, the profits are then passed on to the members in the form of good rates on savings accounts and loans.

What you should do:

The next time you use your debit card, tell the merchant it’s a credit transaction. The purchase will not be billed to a credit card; the funds will still come directly from your checking, without any fee being charged to the credit union.

ATM Card

You can use your ATM card at any ATM to get cash from your checking and your savings account, view balances, and transfer funds. Use an ATM in the credit union network and never pay a fee.

Important ATM Facts:

Deposits
Deposits in an ATM with any financial institution will incur a 3-4 day delay before being credited to your account. If you need the money credited sooner than that and you cannot get to the office during business hours, you can put the deposit in the night deposit vault. The night deposit vault is located next to the ATM at the main office, in THH Cafeteria, Jobst Tower, Flower Hospital and Bay Park Cafeterias. Your deposit will be posted the next business day.

Withdrawals
If you are enrolled in Courtesy Payment, your ATM receipt will always include your Courtesy Payment limit of $500 when it gives your checking balance.

If you overdraw your checking account through an ATM transaction, your Courtesy Payment will be accessed and a fee will be charged. Your receipt will show the amount withdrawn, but will not indicate that Courtesy Payment has been accessed or the associated fee.

How To Activate Your Card

PIN (Personal Identification Number)

For security purposes your Personal Identification Number (PIN) will be mailed to you separately from your card. To activate your card, use your PIN and complete a transaction at any ATM with the STAR logo. This transaction can simply be checking your balance. Your card must be activated in this manner before you can make purchases.

The PIN you receive for your debit/ATM card will not be the same as the PIN assigned for ProCall, your 24-hour telephone banking service. If you want to change your ProCall PIN or debit card PIN call the credit union at (419) 479-4040.

Prevent Theft

  • Keep your PIN separate from your card. Do not tell anyone your PIN.
  • Use a PIN that is difficult to guess (not birth dates, social security numbers etc.)
  • Make sure no one is watching when you use your PIN
  • Never leave your computer logged on to your online credit union account. Always logout by clicking logout not just clicking the X at the top of the screen.
